PARRY ADVANCES, ZIBRIK FALLS IN PGA OF CANADA THIRD ROUND

Vincent Dumouchel still probably doesn’t know what hit him on Thursday morning during the third round of the PGA Championship of Canada at Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ont.

Dumouchel had no answer for Seymour Creek’s Bryn Parry, who made nine birdies in 13 holes en route to a dominating 7&5 victory over the Quebec native.

Parry and Dumouchel halved the first two holes with pars before the North Vancouver golfer strung together seven consecutive birdies and a 5-up lead at the turn. Two more birdies at 11 and 13 meant handshakes on the 13th green and Parry has an afternoon date in the quarterfinals against Quebec's Marc Girouard, who canned an 80-foot putt on the 20th hole to knock out Dave Levesque.

The big win was Parry’s second straight 7&5 victory and he’s only had to play 40 holes in his first three rounds, having not needed to play past the 14th hole in any of his three matches.

Parry’s fellow Seymour Creek pro, Dave Zibrik, wasn’t as lucky on Thursday morning, as he lost to Quebec’s Louis-Pierre Godin 4&3.

Zibrik never led in the match, but his plucky play had him all square at the turn. But Godin’s steady play meant four losses in the next six holes for Zibrik and Godin had booked his spot in the final eight.

There isn’t much time for rest for the eight survivors, as quarterfinal play was scheduled for Thursday afternoon, with the semi-finals and final going on Friday.

The 2013 PGA Championship of Canada is sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf.
