PARRY AND ZIBRIK WIN BIG IN SECOND ROUND PGA OF CANADA MATCHES

B.C’s colours are being proudly represented by two Seymour Creek professionals.

Both Bryn Parry and Dave Zibrik had dominating stretches of golf on Wednesday as they both advanced to the third round of the 2013 PGA Championship of Canada Match Play at Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ont.

Parry continued his hot streak with a 7&5 second round win over Ontario’s Ron Kenesky.

Parry won the second hole and continued building his lead, only losing one hole to Kenesky before winning five of the last six holes en route to handshakes on the 13thgreen.

Parry, who only needed 14 holes to win his first round match over Jeff Chambers, has only played 27 holes in his first two matches and will be well rested when he faces a formidable third-round opponent in Quebec’s Vincent Dumouchel.

Dumouchel, who won the 18thhole on Tuesday to beat Richmond’s Mark Strong 1-up, only needed 10 holes on Wednesday morning to handily dispatch alternate Dan Garagan 9&8to set up an 8 a.m. match on Thursday against Parry.

Parry’s fellow Seymour Creek pro, Dave Zibrik, who beat Jamie Kureluk of Alberta 5&3in his opening match, kept his championship dreams alive with a big3&2 win over Ontario legend Graham Gunn.

After spotting Gunn the fourth hole, Zibrik went on a winning spree, with five wins in a seven-hole stretch from holes six to 12. Despite a double-bogey at 14 that brought Gunn back to within two, Zibrik’s par on the 15thstretched his lead back to three before he closed Gunn out on the 16thgreen.

Zibrik now faces Quebec’s Louis-Pierre Godin, who knocked out home course favourite Danny King 2-up. The Zibrik-Godin match is also early Thursday, at 8:20 a.m. local time.

Quarterfinal matches go on Thursday afternoon, with the semi-finals and final on Friday.

The third B.C. product, Gorge Vale’s Edd Boudreau had a tough second day.

Boudreau won the first hole against Sarnia’s Brian Hadley, but was two-down after the front nine. After pulling back to within one on the 12thhole, Boudreau lost the 13thand it was curtains soon afterwards, as Hadley won 3&1 with a win on the 17thhole.
