B.C. tournament professional Jim Rutledge won his second straight championship, beating Alberta’s Rod Spittle on the fourth playoff hole after the two tied at -7 for the tournament held at Lookout Point Country Club in Fonthill, Ont.

Three players withstood the elements and their nerves to pass their PGA of BC Playing Ability Test at Hazelmere on July 31 and Aug. 1. Big Sky Golf & Country Club's Shawn Keough shot rounds of 75 and 78 to handily beat the 156 score needed to pass the test. The 21-year-old Newfoundland native had the help of caddy Michael MacNeil, who helped Keough navigate the final three holes in even par, including a birdie at 16.
The Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club won the 2013 Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Presented By PING Golf at the Summerland Golf & Country Club on Monday afternoon. The team, which included pro Alan Palmer and juniors Alex Francois, Diego San Pedro and Josh Zhang, shot an adjusted score of 125 to beat Jeff Hollman’s Penticton team by two strokes and Vernon’s team captained by Bradlee Jones by three strokes.

92 golfers will be teeing it up at the Summerland Golf & Country Club on July 22 for the Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship Presented by PING Golf.
The beautiful Hazelmere Golf Course in South Surrey is scheduled to host the PGA of BC’s Summer Playing Ability Test for applicants who wish to become golf professionals. The application deadline is July 24 and applicants must declare their PAT attempt to the PGA of Canada to play in the two-day 36-hole event. For the men, they’ll be playing blue tees with a yardage of 6,401 yards and course rating of 70.5. The target score is 156 or better.
