SUMMERLAND SET TO HOST PRO-JUNIOR JULY 22

92 golfers will be teeing it up at the Summerland Golf & Country Club on July 22 for the Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship Presented by PING Golf.

PGA OF BC PLAYING ABILITY TEST AT HAZELMERE

The beautiful Hazelmere Golf Course in South Surrey is scheduled to host the PGA of BC’s Summer Playing Ability Test for applicants who wish to become golf professionals. The application deadline is July 24 and applicants must declare their PAT attempt to the PGA of Canada to play in the two-day 36-hole event. For the men, they’ll be playing blue tees with a yardage of 6,401 yards and course rating of 70.5. The target score is 156 or better.

Birdies were flying all over the Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club in Kelowna on Tuesday as Tyrel Babkirk and Greg Machtaler of the Summerland Golf & Country Club shot -20 over two days to win the G&G Golf Company/Fletcher Leisure Group PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championship.

Summerland Golf & Country Club’s Greg Machtaler and Tyrel Babkirk shot an 11-under 61 in the opening round of the PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championships at Gallagher’s Canyon on Monday afternoon to take a one-stroke lead into the final round. Only one stroke behind are last year’s runner-up squad from the Kelowna Golf & Country Club, Rob Anderson and Jamie Stevens, who shot 61 and will be playing in a group with Machtaler and Babkirk on Tuesday at 8 a.m.

2013 PGA OF BC PRO-ASSISTANT CHAMPIONSHIP SET FOR GALLAGHER’S JULY 8/9

34 teams are registered and ready to play on July 8 and 9 for the G&G Golf Company/Fletcher Leisure Group PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championship to be held at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club in Kelowna. 2012 champions Kevin Maxwell and Matt Matheson from Olympic View in Victoria will be back to defend the title they won on the third extra hole at Talking Rock. They nipped out Kelowna Golf & Country Club’s Rob Anderson and Jamie Stevens, who won’t have far to go to try to avenge that loss.

The 2013 PGA of BC Sponsor-Media Golf Invitational held at the magnificent Mayfair Lakes Golf Course in Richmond on July 4 was a smashing success.
