Birdies were flying all over the Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club in Kelowna on Tuesday as Tyrel Babkirk and Greg Machtaler of the Summerland Golf & Country Club shot -20 over two days to win the G&G Golf Company/Fletcher Leisure Group PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championship.
Summerland Golf & Country Club’s Greg Machtaler and Tyrel Babkirk shot an 11-under 61 in the opening round of the PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championships at Gallagher’s Canyon on Monday afternoon to take a one-stroke lead into the final round. Only one stroke behind are last year’s runner-up squad from the Kelowna Golf & Country Club, Rob Anderson and Jamie Stevens, who shot 61 and will be playing in a group with Machtaler and Babkirk on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
34 teams are registered and ready to play on July 8 and 9 for the G&G Golf Company/Fletcher Leisure Group PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championship to be held at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club in Kelowna. 2012 champions Kevin Maxwell and Matt Matheson from Olympic View in Victoria will be back to defend the title they won on the third extra hole at Talking Rock. They nipped out Kelowna Golf & Country Club’s Rob Anderson and Jamie Stevens, who won’t have far to go to try to avenge that loss.

North Vancouver’s Bryn Parry certainly earned the 2013 PGA of Canada Championship. Parry beat No. 1 seed Brian McCann 4&2 on Friday morning and then beat Ontario’s Billy Walsh 2&1 in the Friday afternoon final to secure the 2013 PGA of Canada Championship and an automatic spot into next month’s RBC Canadian Open.
Seymour Creek’s Bryn Parry had an epic comeback Thursday afternoon against Quebec’s Marc Girouard in the quarterfinals of the PGA Championship of Canada Match Play at the Magna Golf Course in Aurora, Ont. Parry was down four after eight holes, but stormed back to win 2-up, including wins on the last two holes against Girouard. Parry, the only player in the final eight not from Quebec or Ontario, fell behind early with losses on the first, third and fifth holes to his veteran Quebec opponent.
Vincent Dumouchel still probably doesn’t know what hit him on Thursday morning during the third round of the PGA Championship of Canada at Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ont. Dumouchel had no answer for Seymour Creek’s Bryn Parry, who made nine birdies in 13 holes en route to a dominating 7&5 victory over the Quebec native.
B.C’s colours are being proudly represented by two Seymour Creek professionals. Both Bryn Parry and Dave Zibrik had dominating stretches of golf on Wednesday as they both advanced to the third round of the 2013 PGA Championship of Canada Match Play at Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ont. Parry continued his hot streak with a 7&5 second round win over Ontario’s Ron Kenesky.
