PREVIEW: 2023 Spring Education Seminar

February 3, 2023

RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia)
- The PGA of BC and Tsawwassen Springs Golf are gearing up for the 2023 Spring Education Seminar, returning as an in-person event for the first time since before the pandemic.

With a lineup of expert speakers scheduled to share their wisdom and expertise for our Association’s benefit, a sense of excitement is growing among members and hosts.

Andy Garcia, Apprentice Professional and Golf Services Manager at Tsawwassen Springs Golf, said the club is ecstatic to be hosting the Association’s marquee education event.

“We’re honoured to have all the Professionals come back after what has been almost three years off from any live seminar. To be the location for all these members to get together again for the first time in a long time, it’s really exciting.”

Garcia is pleased to be able to share the picturesque venue with the Association’s members.

“Our facilities are top-notch. We can accommodate tons of people, we’ve got the golf course in the background and it’s just overall a nice, high-end feel.”

PGA of BC Interim Executive Director Jared Siminoff expressed his anticipation to learn from the presenters and extended his appreciation to all who helped make the Spring Education Seminar possible.

“The Spring Education Seminar is our flagship educational event of the season, and the PGA of BC team can’t wait to welcome back upwards of 180 professionals from around the province to our in-person format,” said Siminoff.

“Tsawwassen Springs provides the perfect venue and, thanks to the work of our Education Committee along with our administration team, the lineup of speakers promises to deliver a fantastic two days for our members. This group of presentations features a diverse set of topics ranging from an in-depth look at high-level golf instruction and world-class facility operations, to both personal and professional development.”

Courtney Campbell-Leveck, Head Professional at Gleneagles Golf Course and co-chair of the PGA of BC Education Committee, highlighted the wide range of topics and the networking opportunities available as some of the greatest benefits of the Seminar.

“What I'm looking forward to the most at the Spring Seminar is the engaging education from leading industry professionals and the chance to learn from others in their specific fields and leadership. Having this networking opportunity to meet others in our Association really helps connect all of us and kick start our year. What a powerful resource and opportunity,” said Campbell-Leveck.

“The Spring Seminar benefits our members because it presents and touches on diverse topics that all members will be able to learn from. Wherever you are in your career in the industry, from being a new member, a head professional, a retail manager, etc., there will always be a takeaway for everyone.”

Padraic O’Rourke, Head Professional at Marine Drive Golf Club and co-chair of the PGA of BC Education Committee, said he looks forward to the Spring Education Seminar every year, as he believes it’s an unrivaled networking and social opportunity.

“I’ve been in Canada for about 10 years and, for sure, I’m going to Education Seminars for the education, but almost as important to me is that when I was first going to them I didn’t know anybody, and the networking side of things is massive. That’s so important for Assistants, people getting into the industry, guys like me,” said O’Rourke.

“Getting to catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while, you might even pick up a couple nuggets just sitting around having lunch. I’ve made some great connections at the Education seminars, so the networking is great. And it’s even more special now after a couple years off.”

With upwards of 180 PGA of BC Professionals attending, next week’s Seminar will once again be a can’t-miss event.
