2025 Points Race Update

Starting in 2025, the PGA of BC's points races will operate on a calendar year cycle, providing members with a clear and consistent timeline for tracking their progress. This new structure is designed to enhance transparency and ensure members have regular updates to stay informed about their standings.

To keep members up to date, points race standings will be updated at scheduled intervals throughout the year:

  • Professional Development Program (PDP): Updates will be released during the first week of each month. Members can expect these updates to reflect recent activities, ensuring their efforts in professional development are promptly recognized.

  • Community Engagement Program (CEP): Updates will be published in the middle of each month. This schedule allows sufficient time for recent contributions to be accounted for, ensuring members' engagement within their communities is accurately reflected.

  • Tournament Order of Merit (OOM): Beginning in May, OOM updates will be released in the last week of each month. This schedule ensures competition results are reviewed and processed efficiently, giving members an up-to-date view of their tournament performance.

Each submission form will include designated point values for each category. If you encounter a situation where the appropriate number of points is not available to select on the form, please reach out for assistance. For any questions or concerns, members are encouraged to contact Doug Titterington at doug@pgabc.org.

Community Engagement Program Background

Launching in 2024, the PGA of BC's Community Engagement Program aims to recognize golf professionals across British Columbia who prioritize community involvement, public volunteerism, and other charitable efforts. This initiative rewards active involvement in key community events like the ALS Golfathon, Junior Golf Week, and Women's Golf Week, with points awarded for promoting, participating in, and fundraising for these and other community initiatives.

The program also values broader community involvement, such as volunteer work, engagement in other sports, and various fundraising activities, recognizing the diverse contributions of golf professionals beyond the course.

Crucially, the program places a strong emphasis on the use of social media as a powerful tool for professionals to positively promote the PGA of BC, including educational events and tournaments. This strategy aims to increase the association's visibility and accessibility, making it more public-facing and enhancing reputation and brand growth.

Community Leadership Bursary

Separate from the CEP, but related in its theme, is the PGA of BC’s Community Leadership Bursary.  While this award may sometimes go to the Points Race Champion, the Community Leadership Bursary targets individuals who have created programs and initiatives to which the bursary’s funds could be reinvested into.
