April 1, 2024
As the weather warms up and we approach the start of competitive play, online registration for the 2024 PGA of BC tournament season is now open! We are thrilled to be welcoming you all back to our championships and can’t wait to see you this season.
Highland Pacific Golf in Victoria is the host of our leadoff event, the Tournament of Champions presented by PING Canada & Motocaddy. Dave Zibrik (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) and Jeff Dagg will look to win their fourth straight title in the event after a dominating three-year run.
Championship season continues with the COBRA PUMA Golf Assistants’ Championship, hosted by Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course in Oliver. 2023 Kal Tire Order of Merit winner Steven Lecuyer (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) will look to defend his title, while five-time champion Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre), three-time winner Oliver Tubb (Lobb & Partners) and 2022 champion Zach Olson (Chilliwack Golf Club) should be among the favourites to dethrone Lecuyer.
The PGA of BC travels to beautiful Whistler for the Seniors’ Championship presented by Honma Golf & Levelwear and the Women’s Championship presented by Honma Golf, Levelwear & GolfBC Group, which take place at Nicklaus North Golf Course. Christine Wong (University Golf Club) will hope to add a third victory at the Women’s Championship to her resume, having won in 2020 and 2023. On the Seniors’ side, Rob Anderson (Kelowna Golf & Country Club) returns as defending champion after a thrilling and clutch performance last year where he eagled the first playoff hole to win the tournament.
The G&G Brands & Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship presented by E-Z-GO returns to the mountainous charm of the Kootenays, where teams will compete at Copper Point Golf Club in Invermere. Last year’s tournament saw Fairview Mountain Golf Club’s duo of Brian McDonald and Rob Tadey take home the title, their third since 2017.
The Jack McLaughlin Memorial Pro-Junior Championship Series takes place at four unique locations across the province, promoting participation and ease of travel. Tournaments will be hosted at Cranbrook Golf Club, Cultus Lake Golf Course, Shadow Ridge Golf Club and Fairwinds Golf Club in July. The defending regional champions from Copper Point Golf Club, Overlander Golf & Events Centre, Morgan Creek Golf Course and Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community hope to extend their championship streak in the second year of the regional format.
Morgan Creek Golf Course in Surrey will play host to the Axis Insurance PGA of BC Championship. Zach Olson (Chilliwack Golf Club) will look to best the field and retain the William Thompson Trophy. Four-time champion Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) will be among those hoping to unseat Olson and take back the victory.
Finally, competitors head to Vancouver Island for the Srixon/Cleveland Golf Club Professional Championship presented by Nike Golf & Mobilicab at Nanaimo Golf Club. Dave Zibrik (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) earned his second Dick Munn Memorial Trophy at last year’s event, and will look to hold off his rival in the event, two-time champion Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club).
Members are encouraged to register for tournaments as early as possible, as spaces are projected to fill up quickly.
All our championships will provide players the opportunity to earn points towards the Kal Tire Order of Merit standings. More information regarding updates to the Order of Merit race, as well as the Professional Development Program presented by Sunice Bobby Jones and the new Community Engagement Program, will be released this week.
