Jack McLaughlin Memorial Pro-Junior Championship
The Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship is a fun-focused 18-hole event in which a Golf Professional teams up with three juniors from their facility to compete against squads from across the province in two-net best-ball play. The net-scoring format allows for juniors of all ages and ability levels to contribute to their team's success.
The event was founded in memory of Jack McLaughlin the year after his untimely 1991 passing, honouring the longtime Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club Head Professional's efforts as a tireless promoter of junior golf during his esteemed career. Past editions of the event included an individual competition for PGA of BC members, but the cash purse is now divided amongst all participating Professionals based upon the number of birdies and eagles recorded during their round.
Several facilities have won the Pro-Junior title twice, but no Professional has led a team to more than one victory in the event.
