Furlong Delivers Gold at Spring Education Seminar

RICHMOND, B.C. – (March 19, 2012) – The goal of the PGA of BC Spring Education Seminar is to educate and inspire for the upcoming Golf season, and the Board of Director’s can tip their hats after this year’s presentations by arguably the best line-up they have ever put together for the two-day event held at River Rock Resort in Richmond.

Becky Wilkins (Retail Management Associates) presented unique Retail ideas and to increase profitability, Kevin MacDonald (Clarity Success Coaching) reminded us that there is a “S.T.A.R.” in us all, Randy Hnatko (Trainwest Management & Consulting Inc.) challenged us to jump out of the normal sales box that is easy to fall in to, and Richard Bartrem (VP, Communications and Community Relations - WestJet) showed us the value of a powerful culture.  If those four were not enough, the audience was then presented with a powerful and moving presentation from the CEO of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, John Furlong.

It has been a little over two years since Vancouver hosted the best Olympic Performance by Canadians in the country’s history, and although many of us remember Crosby’s goal performance like it was yesterday, it is perhaps a little easier to forget some of the other stories from the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Remember the challenge of getting snow on the mountains?  What about the tragedy the day of the Opening Games?  Who was the first Canadian athlete to capture Gold on Canadian soil?  Although Furlong touched amongst these answers in his keynote speech “Inspiring Innovation and The Vision that Changed a Nation”, what made his presentation so magical to the PGA of BC Members and guests who were in attendance is the ferocity at which he can tell a story, and then bring it to something quite relatable with our Golf industry.

Furlong finished his two-hour presentation by signing books for all of those in attendance.  If you were not able to attend, you can purchase an autographed copy of Furlong’s Book, “Patriot Hearts”; click here($32.95 including tax and shipping).

Overall the attendees at the PGA of BC Spring Education Seminar received a “shot of energy” for 2012, and the office looks forward to the challenge of bringing even more dynamic presenters for future years.
