James Presnail, Head Professional at the Gleneagles Golf Course in West Vancouver, is the 2013 winner of the $1,000 Forestar Golf Community Leadership Bursary.
The Forestar Golf Community Leadership Bursary is awarded to an individual who demonstrates an extraordinary desire and passion to use their unique gifts and abilities in order to make a significant difference in the lives of those around him/her, and in doing so, sets an example of “giving back” that all PGA of BC members can be proud to be associated with.
Presnail was born in Oakville, Ontario in 1985. His greatest strength is his ability to change and adapt quickly to fast moving situations. No doubt this has something to do with the fact that he has resided in no less than 9 different cities. Presnail’s most formative years were spent in Tokyo from 1995 -2002, followed by a year in Singapore where he graduated from high school.
Upon his return to Canada in late 2003, he entered Humber College’s Professional Golf Management (PGM) program in Toronto. In 2005, he relocated to Victoria B.C. and continued his PGM studies at Camosun College. Since his return to Canada, Presnail’s career has blossomed at a number of fine golf courses, including Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto, Royal Colwood Golf Club and Nanaimo Golf & Country Club on Vancouver Island, as well as Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club in Vancouver. He was the Golf Operations Manager at Fraserview Golf Course for two seasons and is now Head Golf Professional position at Gleneagles Golf Course in West Vancouver, which is also managed by Monaghan Golf.
Presnail has been a member of the Canadian PGA since 2007 and brings passion and skill for golf to his coaching. He believes every swing is unique and that everyone has the ability to get their game to the level they dream about. Presnail has taken many educational courses this year to further his understanding of the sport and the golf swing and he hopes to impart that knowledge to his students.
