RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) - The PGA of BC regrets to share that Life Professional Patrick Dunn passed away earlier this month.

Dunn, who won the 2000 and 2002 PGA of BC Pro-Executive Championships and served as long-time Head Professional at Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club and McCleery Golf Course, died Saturday, January 21. He was 72.

After joining the PGA of Canada in 1982, Dunn served as a Professional at McCleery Golf Course. While at McCleery, he worked under Alvie Thompson, who was inducted into the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame in 2017. In 1989, Dunn joined Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club as Head Professional, where he remained until 1997. He returned to McCleery Golf Course in 1999, where he served as Head Professional until 2012. In 2008, Dunn was named the Lower Mainland regional recipient of the PGA of BC Dick Munn Golf Professional of the Year Award. Following his retirement, Dunn lived in Qualicum Beach.

Muncie Booth, a colleague of Dunn’s at McCleery Golf Course, remembers his positive contributions to the club.

"Pat Dunn was a wonderful member of our Association as he optimizes what a Club Professional should be. He started working for me in 1998 at McCleery and immediately made a very profound impact by becoming very popular with the Men’s and Ladies Club members.”

He described Dunn as a “people person” who had tremendous success as a salesperson.

“Pat was a dear friend and will be missed,” said Booth.

Dunn’s family fondly remembers playing late evening rounds of golf with the avid car enthusiast and trumpet player. He fuelled his automotive passion as an active member of the Ocean Idlers car club.

His son, Patrick Dunn Jr., described his father as loyal, passionate and patient. Dunn Jr. said Dunn was a protector and took enjoyment in helping and supporting others.

Dunn is survived by his mother Bertha Dunn, wife Jacqueline Dunn, son Patrick and daughter Kat Rosene. The PGA of BC extends its sympathies to Dunn’s family, friends and industry colleagues during this difficult time.

This is an open invitation to anyone who Patrick had an impact on as per Patrick’s request this will be a low key get together of his friends and family to reminisce about his life and the positive impact he had on a number of communities.

The celebration of life will be held at at the Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Course located 469 Memorial Ave, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 1G8 on March 22nd from 2 p.m to 5 p.m.
