including top ranked Professional Bryn Parry

  

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - (August 19, 2011) - The Professional Golfers' Association of British Columbia looks to crown their 42nd PGA of BC Champion next week at the Rivershore Golf Links in Kamloops, BC.  The 54-hole event will feature some of the Association's best competitive golfers from across the province, including top ranked Professional, Bryn Parry of Seymour Creek Golf Centre who recently won the Canada Cup in Quebec earlier this month.  Doug Morgan, of The Redwoods Golf Course in Langley, will be the one to watch as he attempts to successfully defend his title for the second time and become the second three-peat winner in Championship history.  Scott Minni performed the rare feat from 1992-94.  

 

Local players trying to put their name on the trophy include Michael Chmilar (Sun Rivers), Brad Clapp (Sun Rivers), Stephen Connor (Tobiano), Matt Kurkiewica (The Dunes), Chris Seeley (Sun Peaks) and host professional Shawn Fagan (Rivershore). 

 

Some others to watch next week are 2008 CPGA Club Professional Champion, Kyle German (Northview G&CC), 2009 Canadian Assistants' Champion, Matt Palsenbarg (Northview G&CC), 2003 PGA of BC Champion, Phil Jonas (Hazelmere GC) and 2006 PGA of BC Champion, Ed Boudreau (Arbutus Ridge G&CC). 

 

The PGA of BC Championship was first held in 1970 with Doug Reid as the inaugural winner.  Canadian golf legends Dave Barr won the Championship in 1975 and Ray Stewart took home the trophy in 1982.    

 

Tournament play begins Monday, August 22 with a 1:30pm shotgun.
