PGA of BC announces provincial 2020 award recipients

RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) - The PGA of BC proudly named the provincial recipients of the Association's 2020 Awards Program during an online broadcast of the PGA of BC Awards Celebration presented by Replay Golf Supplies & Tribal held this afternoon.

Recipients were announced for the following 11 awards during the course of the afternoon's festivities:

Dick Munn Golf Professional of the Year presented by Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House
Padraic O'Rourke, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club

Cec Ferguson Executive Professional of the Year presented by E-Z-GO
Bill Kelly, Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community

Fred Wood Class "A" Professional of the Year presented by Nespresso Professional
Michael Thompson, Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club

Jock McKinnon Candidate for Membership of the Year presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf/XXIO
Callum Ashby, Highland Pacific Golf

Jack Westover Coach of the Year presented by Steve Graham Sales 
Colin Lavers, Seymour Golf & Country Club

Golf Facility of the Year presented by EFAS Safety
Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community

Herb Paterson Sales Representative of the Year presented by Dale Carnegie Training of BC

The recipients of the following five awards, who were previously named by the PGA of BC earlier this month, were also honoured during the event:

Distinguished Service Award presented by DGL Sports Enterprises
Brian Schaal, Copper Point Golf Club

PGA of BC Community Leadership Bursary
Kyla Inaba, Predator Ridge Resort

Jim Gibson Scholarship
Jennifer Greggain, Chilliwack Golf Club

As well, the Awards Celebration featured a special presentation from the ALS Society of British Columbia, honouring the efforts of PGA of BC Professionals who participated in this year's Golfathon for ALS across the province. In 2020, the initiative raised $200,210, bringing the 15-year cumulative total just shy of $2.1 million raised to support individuals and families affected by ALS. 

Additionally, the BC chapter of the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada's Fore Season Golf Professional Award was presented to Copper Point Golf Club Executive Professional Brian Schaal during the festivities.

A special presentation was also made to PGA of BC Senior Competition Advisor Jack Croucher, who was recognized for his 10 years of service to the Association.
