PGA of BC Honoured with Exceptional Fundraising Award

PGA of BC Executive Director Donald Miyazaki accepts the 2021 Exceptional Fundraising-Corporate Partner Award from the ALS Society of BC on Tuesday evening. The Golfathon for ALS organized by the PGA of BC has raised over $2,336,300.

RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) – On Tuesday evening, the PGA of BC’s Golfathon for ALS was recognized with the 2021 ALS Society of BC’s Exceptional Fundraising – Corporate Partner Award.

The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in fundraising programs. The award recognizes an individual or project team who has demonstrated excellence in fundraising. An exceptional program develops an innovative idea and attains or exceeds a fundraising goal.

The PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS is recognized for 16 years of support of patient service programs provided the ALS Society of BC.

Since the inception of this annual event, 240,569 holes have been played which included 17 hole in ones. The grand total raised is over $2,336,300. This unique, spectacular event draws the attention of media province-wide keeping the needs of ALS patients in the forefront of British Columbia.

“This award means so much to our organization as it recognizes the thousands of Golf Professionals, volunteers, Club members, and donors who have contributed to the PGA of BC’s Golfathon for ALS. Over the past sixteen years, the awareness they have raised while directly benefiting patients and their families has been unbelievable and we are eternally thankful for our continued partnership with the ALS Society of BC”, says Donald Miyazaki, Executive Director of the PGA of BC.

Proceeds from the Golfathon for ALS fund crucial support services for ALS patients, their families and caregivers provided by the ALS Society of BC.

“We are forever grateful for the outstanding support of the golf professionals of the PGA of BC who participate in the Golfathon for ALS. Not only does this event raise funds to support people living with ALS, it provides them with hope’’, commented Wendy Toyer Executive Director ALS Society of BC. “Most people are tired after one round of golf. Imagine golfing upwards of 10 rounds, 180 holes in one day!”

The PGA of BC’s award was presented at a ceremony hosted by the ALS Society of BC in conjunction with their Annual General Meeting on April 6th in Richmond, BC.
