The PGA of British Columbia and many others from across the Canadian golf community are mourning the passing of Life Professional Harry Turriff. He passed away on September 2, 2022, aged 71.
Turriff was born in Newmarket, Ontario to his parents John and Norma Turriff. With his wife of 48 years, Sheila, Turriff had two daughters, Shannon and Kimberly. He embraced the role of “Papa” for five grandchildren, Treyden, Mason, Kyren, Avery and Landon. He was known as a family-man and an attentive, loving husband.
Turriff was a PGA member for nearly 50 years. He had a life-long passion for golf and took great joy in mentoring new golf professionals. Originally becoming a member of the PGA of Canada on March 1, 1974, Turriff became a Class “A” Member in 1978. 40 years thereafter, he became a PGA Life Member. Turriff’s career in British Columbia began with Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club. Later, he moved to the Capilano Golf & Country Club, before becoming Head Professional at Guildford Golf Club in 1995. He also worked at University Golf Club and Lakepoint Golf & Country Club. Before moving to BC to work with Shaughnessy, Turriff was a Professional at Summit Golf & Country Club in Richmond Hill, ON.
