RICHMOND, BC (PGA of BC) - It is with great sadness that the PGA of British Columbia announce the passing of Ward Stouffer.
A member of the PGA of Canada since 1985, Ward Stouffer will be remembered best for his wit, loyalty, demeanor, exceptional playing ability, but most of all, a great friend.
He began his journey as a Golf Professional in 1985 while working under the legendary Richard Leisen at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. After a very short apprenticeship and rapidly growing playing resume, Stouffer went on to play seven years on the Canadian Tour and three more years on the Asian Tour. Following his return to BC, Stouffer spent the better part of two decades at Fairwinds Golf Club in Nanoose Bay, BC. After apprenticing under Barrie McWha, he attained Class "A" status with the PGA of Canada in 1995 and was appointed Head Professional the following year. In 2008, he appointed Steve Busswood as the Club's new Head Professional while he took on the title of Executive Professional and Director of Golf Operations until 2015.
In 2006, Stouffer was awarded the PGA of British Columbia's Head Professional of the Year Award. He served on the PGA of BC Board of Directors on two separate occassions, most recently in 2011.
Some of his Playing & Professional Accomplishments include:
- Member of BC Willingdon Cup Team in 1984
- Member of Canada's Eisenhower Cup Team in 1984
- Low Club Professional – 1985 BC Open
- 1986 PGA of BC Champion
- Became a Class A member in 1995
- 2006 PGA of BC Head Professional of the Year
Stouffer is survived by wife Shelly and sons Kent and Brett. A celebration of life will be held on Friday January 13th at 1:00PM at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre - 132 Jensen Avenue, Parksville, BC
