The 2014 PDP Order of Merit standings saw big moves made by Cordova Bay Golf Course's Doug Hastie and Kelowna Golf & Country Club's Rob Anderson, but the leader as of May 1 continues to be Gallagher's Canyon Golf & Country Club's Tara Roden.
Roden entered the month with a 13-point lead over Myles Johnson of Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club, but Johnson was passed by Hastie, who attended CNC classes in Florida during the winter and received credit for that after filling in the online PDP requisition form. Hastie sits at 37 points, only 10 behind Roden and two ahead of Johnson, who now sits third.
Rounding out the top five are Chad Scott of The Harvest Golf Club at 34 points, 13 behind Roden; and Anderson, at 32 points, who took the Golf Canada Rules of Golf seminar in April and also filled out the online PDP requisition form for those points.
March leader Jeff Palmer of Olympic View Golf Club is now tied for sixth at 30 points with last year's PDP champion, Dave Zibrik of Capilano Golf & Country Club.
The highlights of the latest PDP update include many Kootenays professionals getting on the board after the April 28 Education Series #4 event at Fairmont Hot Springs, each of the regional tours now in full swing, meaning every participant gets a point for playing in each qualifiying event, and multiple point requisition requests ranging from taking CNC classes to volunteering to teach golf at local schools.
