The sun is starting to come out and the showers are starting to lighten up as the 2013 Cleveland/Srixon Canada PGA of BC Club Pro Championship Presented by DSG Tag Systems kicked off just before 11 a.m. at the Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club on Monday.
The 36-hole stroke play tourney features 48 of the top club professionals in the province and when Riverway's Hal Eremko hit the first tee shot just before 11 a.m. on Monday, the competition was on.
Defending champion Dean Claggett of Two Eagles is anxious to defend his title and he teed off just before noon with Chad Scott of The Harvest and Gordon Mink of Golf Town - Langley.
Other favourites in the field include Olympic View's Kevin Maxwell, Kelowna Golf & Country Club's Rob Anderson and Richmond Country Club's Mark Strong.
After Monday's round, the pros will join a room of more than 170 people who will celebrate Jim McLaughlin's induction into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. Richard Zokol will emcee the gala event, which honours the longtime Shaughnessy professional
