Richmond, B.C. (PGA of BC) – The PGA of British Columbia is pleased to introduce Eric MacKenzie as the association’s new Communications & Marketing Manager.
MacKenzie brings a decade of experience as a sports media professional, having worked primarily as a newspaper sports reporter and editor in various Canadian communities since graduating from the esteemed journalism program at Ottawa’s Carleton University.
“We are thrilled to have Eric join our team as Communications & Marketing Manager,” said PGA of BC Executive Director Donald Miyazaki. “Not only will his skills and experience help elevate our brand, he brings a tremendous passion for the game that makes him a great fit with the PGA of BC.
“We look forward to working alongside him and for members to meet him at upcoming events.”
Recently, MacKenzie worked as a sports reporter and columnist for 24 Hours Vancouver, regularly covering the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps and other Lower Mainland sports and events. He was also a regular contributor to Province Sports Radio podcasts throughout 2016, discussing local and global sport issues.
A Winnipeg native, MacKenzie has spent more than 20 years connected to the game of golf. As a journalist, he covered dozens of pro and amateur events, penned several golf tourism magazine features and worked alongside teaching professionals to develop instructional series for print publications. As a junior, MacKenzie played competitively and was employed on a PGA of Canada professional’s pro shop staff. He continues to enjoy the game recreationally and as a fan.
“I am honoured to join the PGA of BC and excited to begin working toward the betterment of the game and golf industry in British Columbia,” said MacKenzie. “I look forward to meeting and interacting with our hundreds of member professionals across the province in the weeks and months ahead.”
