RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) - The 2023 season brings several chances to join the PGA of Canada as a member. With a diverse lineup of Playing Ability Tests and supplemental exemption events, golfers from around the province will have multiple opportunities to join the ranks of the Association.
The PGA of BC recently announced the schedule for this year’s Playing Ability Tests, including two set to occur in British Columbia. Kamloops’ Rivershore Golf Links will host a Playing Ability Test on June 7, 2023. Please make sure to register by the May 29 deadline. Langley’s GreenTee Country Club will host the following Playing Ability Test on August 30. Please register by the August 23 deadline.
The PGA of Canada also recognizes an array of events which can earn prospective professionals a Playing Ability Test exemption. The events are in order as follows:
May 12: RBC Canadian Open Regional Qualifier, Ledgeview Golf Club
May 15: U.S. Women’s Open Qualifier, The Vancouver Golf Club
May 15-18: British Columbia Women’s & Men’s Mid-Amateur/Mid-Masters, Sandpiper Golf Club
June 19-23: British Columbia 118th Women’s Amateur, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club
July 2-6: British Columbia U19 Junior Girls and Boys Championship, Prince George Golf Club
July 10-14: British Columbia 121st Amateur, Morningstar Golf Club
July 24-27: British Columbia Senior & Super Senior Championship, Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club
August 21: CP Women’s Open Qualifier, Point Grey Golf & Country Club
September 5-8: Canadian Men’s Senior Championship presented by BDO, Big Sky Golf & Country Club
In recognition of demonstrated playing ability, an applicant will be awarded an exemption from the Playing Ability Test requirement based on the following criteria:
Score meets the PAT standard of nine over the course rating for men 49 years of age or under, 11 over the course rating for men 50 years of age or older, 13 over the course rating for women 49 years of age or under, and 15 over the course rating for women 50 years of age and older.

Individuals interested in participating in one of the PATs below who have not yet completed an application to the PGA of Canada must first do so by visiting pgaofcanada.com/join and completing the online application form. Please note that prospective applicants must have verifiable employment within the golf industry to be eligible to apply.
