Assistants' Championship
The PGA of BC Assistants' Championship is open to all members serving in roles other than Head, Executive or Head Teaching Professional within the Association. Contested each June, the event is a 36-hole, individual stroke-play championship.
The Assistants' Championship is the Association's longest-running competition, debuting in 1948 as the City Assistant Professionals' Tournament. The event was considered a provincial championship by 1951, with 36 holes played in a single day.
The tournament was further elevated in 1967 with the introduction of the Stan Leonard Trophy, the event's first sponsor-furnished prize purse, and play being conducted with two 18-hole rounds over two days. The whereabouts of the original Stan Leonard Trophy is unclear, but the format has remained largely unchanged.
Bryn Parry has won the event a record five times, with his first title coming in 2000 and the most recent in 2017. Gerry Chatelain is the only player to win three consecutive titles, collecting his trio of Assistants' Championships between 1972 and 1974.
