SPEAKER LINE-UP:
DENNIS BRADLEY; Teaching Professional, Copper Point Golf Club
Topic: "Changing Expectations: Coaching Athletes with Special Needs"
Assumptions are made that individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities can’t achieve the same athletic skill sets as those normally-abled, but how many of these beliefs are rooted in our outdated perceptions? Leaning on his years of experience coaching golf for Special Olympics athletes, Bradley will detail how he has helped his students achieve success in competition and the takeaways that can be applied to instructing golfers of any ability level.
About Dennis Bradley:
Dennis Bradley has been a Class "A" Professional member of the PGA of Canada for more than 30 years. He has twice been named a regional award recipient for the Kootenays/Northern BC region in the Teacher and Coach of the Year categories, and was selected by his peers as the 2021 provincial recipient of the PGA of BC's Davie Black Professional Development Award.
Topic: "From employees to owners - A candid conversation on how the Simkins Family purchased Bootleg Gap"
Head Professional Trevor Simkins and Life Professional Harold Simkins will be sharing their journey on how the family came to purchase Bootleg Gap Golf in early 2021. Trevor and Harold have taken on large responsibilities in doing so and the presentation will touch on the many things involved in the process of purchasing a golf course from financing, to taking on a new workforce.
