Why did you become a PGA of Canada Professional?

I have always had a passion for the game of the golf, so a career in the business made sense.

What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?

The people you work with and the people in this association, they all have the same passion for the game of golf, it's great competition, but also friendly at the same time. It's great to get out to different events and meet all the other professionals from around the province.

At which golf facility did you first begin working within the industry, and who was the PGA Professional?

Wolf Creek Golf Resort in Ponoka, Alberta. Mr. Jay Anderson was the Head Professional & still one of the best Golf Professionals I've ever worked with.

Who has influenced your career the most, and how?

My Dad for sure, I started golfing when I was like 5 years old. I had the plastic clubs and would run around 18 holes of golf with him.

What career path led you to where you are today?

Started as a Back Shop employee at Wolf Creek Golf Resort, then to Heritage Pointe Golf Club as an Assistant followed by River Spirt Golf Club. Got my first Head Professional job at Cottonwood G&CC in Calgary, AB. Moved to B.C about five years ago and was lucky enough to land this job at Chilliwack Golf Club.

Which significant accomplishments are you most proud of?

The direction Chilliwack Golf Club is headed and the team we have put in place here. It's been a challenging few years, but our Superintendent (Kaleb Fisher) and his team have done a fantastic job turning the conditions around and I encourage everyone to come check out the facility in the near future. Our Master Plan has been completed, we can expect major renovations to start in the coming years. The future at Chilliwack Golf Club is a bright one.

If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?

Stick with it, it takes a lot of hard work, dedication & time to get to the Head Professional level. Be open to learning new things every day because it's bound to happen.

What is your most cherished golf memory?

I got to meet & take a picture with Arnold Palmer when I was about 16 years old. Just an amazing experience.

What is your favourite golf course in British Columbia, and why?

Tobiano or Talking Rock! Just some great resort golf a short drive from the lower mainland.

What is a common misconception that golfers make about what your job entails?

They think you just play golf all the time and don't actually work for a living.

What is an interesting fact about yourself that doesn't involve golf?

Toronto Maple Leafs all the way! Go Leafs Go.
