The Summer of Greg continued on Tuesday at the Salmon Arm Golf Club as Summerland Golf & Country Club assistant pro Greg Machtaler chipped in for birdie on the second playoff hole to beat Seymour Creek’s Bryn Parry for the Titleist/FootJoy 2013 PGA of BC Championship Presented By Axis Insurance, a $6,000 winner’s cheque and the William Thompson Trophy. “I can’t explain it,” said an elated Machtaler afterwards. “It’s been a dream summer.”

Three players withstood the elements and their nerves to pass their PGA of BC Playing Ability Test at Hazelmere on July 31 and Aug. 1. Big Sky Golf & Country Club's Shawn Keough shot rounds of 75 and 78 to handily beat the 156 score needed to pass the test. The 21-year-old Newfoundland native had the help of caddy Michael MacNeil, who helped Keough navigate the final three holes in even par, including a birdie at 16.
